With the depth development of the basic education course reform, it promotes a clear direction for primary school English curriculum. The whole reform emphasize that in the teaching process, we should put the students at the first place, respecting every student’s individuality development. In the 1990 s, the English curriculum stepped in the primary school class, thanks to its advancement; it comes to be more and more attractive. For this reason, it puts forward new requirement to teaching methods. The game has been in primary school for 30 years, from doubt to integrate into the class; it conforms to primary school students’ characteristics: active, curious and like playing. In the one hand, it promotes the development of primary school English, in the other hand, it benefits for the growth of the students. However, there are some problems in the game teaching.This study focus on the game teaching in primary school based on the cognitive theory. The cognitive theory lies on students’ development, underlines to cultivate the interest in learning, thinks highly of the value of the learning motivation. Not only stresses the connection between the new and old knowledge, but also takes the real life applications seriously. It’s very important for primary English curriculum and students in primary school to give some advices under the cognitive theory.After observation and interviews in School A and B, we find the ignorance of the English curriculum directly hampered the overall development of primary school English. As a leader, teachers’ views play a vital role in teaching. The professional level reflects on teachers’ skills on design the game, management and implementation of the game have to be strengthened. In view of the existing problems, combined with the cognitive theory, put forward the following measures for improvement. By importance on thought to create the learning environment for English study to highlight the primary school English, enhancing teachers’ cognitive game concept, think a lot of curiosity and interest, take the relationship between knowledge in order to achieve the positive effect. While designing a game, considering all aspects, take learning results, development on cognitive andpractical application ability into consideration.
