During the period of the republic of China, it provides the soil for the development of social education; social education is also an integral part of education. The universities as an important carrier, which combined the human and social development inevitably in the history of development of social education plays an important role. While disorder in social development and people in low quality relatively during the period of the republic of China, in order to make up for a lack of modern education system to avoid the universities closed the school, the universities will need to shoulder the responsibility of the service society. Before and after the universities have participated in the development of social education during the period of the republic of twists and turns, it has experienced five stages, which is the "sure- development-comprehensive expansion- resistance emergency", and from three aspects: moral education, intellectual education and life education, to participate in social education. Through public speaking, publishing journal literature, holding the remedial education and skills guidance, which has made the out-of school people, civilians, and the populace to achieve its service function of society, and reflect the characteristics of comprehensive, popularization and diversification fully and brightly. The universities have participated in social education during the period of the republic of China, in order to the development of contemporary in China, which has accumulated a lot of valuable experience. In the context of learning society, it provides our country’s university social education development opportunities and new challenges. The universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China, which will refer good experience, is the foundation in contemporary China university service society.This dissertation mainly apply literature method, historical method, comparative method and case method, it divides seven parts to discuss the historical origination, development, aim, content, object, characteristics, evaluation and enlightenment of universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China from the point of combining the macro and micro comprehensive collect and analysis.The first part is introduction, it mainly introduces the selected topic reason, research value, defines the core concepts to comb literature review related to this study, and expounds the research value and research methods in this paper.The second part is combing motivation of the universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China. This part starts from the big background of emergence and development in social education during the period of the republic of China, which put "the university" as the breakthrough point to focus on combing the university participated in social education to realize its social service function on the special historical conditionsThe third part is summarizing the history of the universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China. The universities participated in social education is indispensable important content in the research of social education. This dissertation makes "1912-1945" as the time limit, it can be divided into universities participated in the popular education(1912-1919), the universities participated in the civilian education(1919-1927), the universities participated in public education(1927-1937), and universities participated in the War of Resistance Against Japan education(1937-1945). It aims to summarize staged characteristics of social education, and the content of the university social service for each period.The fourth part is stating the purpose and content of universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China. This part mainly starts from three aspects: moral education, intellectual education and life education to systemize the specific content of social education. At the same time, Peking university’s civilian education lecture Group as a case, lead the successful experience of Beijing university serve the society more complanation, specific and detailed.The fifth part is the object analysis and the method of universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China. In this period, social object of education is universal, universities participated in social education mainly as out-of-school people, civilians and populace is the research object, through public speaking, publishing magazines, holding with education and skills guidance mode, realize the social function of the service.The sixth part is summarizing the characteristics of the universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China. The universities participated in social education fully reflects the object popularization, content comprehensive and types diversity.The seventh part is discussing the evaluation and enlightenment of universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China. Aim to evaluate implementation effect and the main problems in the universities participated in social education during the period of the republic of China, which can summarize historical experience and lessons and reflect its enlightenment to today’s universities participated in social education and form the final conclusion of this dissertation.
