| Objective: TO assess the effect of broadcasting gymnastics and baduanjin on body composition and bone mineral density in 116 women aged 20-59 of Wuhan.And investigate the relation between body composition and bone mineral density.Methods: The subjects were randomly divided into two training groups: broadcasting gymnastics training(GG), baduanjin training(BG) and a control group(CG). Measurements of body weight, body mass index(BMI), body fat percentage(BF%), lean body mass(LTM),the skinfold thickness of the subscapular angle, triceps, abdomen and stiffness(STI), T-score,Z-score by calcaneus were registered in two different moments: prior to the commencement of the training program, and finally after 3 months of training.Results: It was observed that the STI, T-score, Z-score by calcaneus were increased compared to baseline measurements(P<0.05) in the GG aged 40-59; the body weight, BMI,BF%, the skinfold thickness of the subscapular angle and triceps were decreased compared to baseline measurements(P<0.05, P<0.01) in both GG and BG aged 20-59; the LTM was decreased compared to baseline measurements(P<0.05) in the GG aged 20-59; the skinfold thickness of the abdomen was decreased compared to baseline measurements(P<0.05) in the BG aged 40-59. The GG’s BF% reduction was significantly lower compared to the BG in the women aged 20-39; the BG’s skinfold thickness of the subscapular angle was significantly lower compared to the GG in the women aged 40-59. BF% was negatively related to the STI,T-score, Z-score by calcaneus(r=-0.212~-0.263,P<0.05).Conclusion: The 3 moths training of the broadcasting gymnastics have a beneficial impact on bone density by calcaneus in women aged 40-59. The 3 moths training of the broadcasting gymnastics and baduanjin can both make body weight, BMI, BF%, the skinfold thickness of the subscapular angle, triceps significantly reduced, and the broadcasting gymnastics training to reduce BF% are better than the baduanjin training. High percentage body fat is related to low BMD by calcaneus. |
