University or college students are the foundation in the development of a country, and there is a close relationship between the students’physical health and the prosperity of the country. Therefore, paying attention to the physical health of the students is paying attention to the future destiny of the country. However, at present, the current situation of the university or college students’physical health is in a bad condition, namely, it is in an overwhelmingly negative condition.In order to make response to the new policy made by the education department on the students’ physical health condition and combing with the phenomenon of the students physical decline and the current implementation of the content of the Wushu teaching material in the university, this thesis intends to discuss, investigate and explore solutions to the students’ physical decline and improve the students’ physical health by means of the reform of the content of the Wushu teaching material in the university. Moreover, this can also inherit and promote the excellent Chinese traditional culture. By conducting field studies of the current implementation of the wushu class of the universities in Wuhan and sending questionnaires to them, and then analyzing the statistics and the materials, the author finally finds out that the reform of the content of wushu teaching material can result in the improvement of both the students’ physical health and the development of Wushu.The thesis mainly uses the methods of referring to the literature review,, interviewing the frontline teachers and experts. By these methods, the author got that there is a deviation among the research field, scope and the direction in the wushu class, the implementation of the wushu class faces big problems, and that the wushu teachers hold positive attitude towards the reform of the content of the teaching material. By analyzing the questionnaires concerning the reform of the content of the teaching material, the author found out:the teaching content of the wushu class in universities is both boring and empty; the arrangement of the course needs to be improved; the teaching hours are relatively short; the teachers’ age distribution is reasonable; teachers are not flexible with the content of the teaching material; the impartment of the special theoretical knowledge is small; the. wushu class is not attractive to the university students; the atmosphere in the wushu class is not good; there is a significant difference between the reality of the teaching content and the student’s psychological expectations; the requirement of the current teaching content to the sports load is low and the function of the teaching content to the students’physical health is not obvious.According to the characteristics and the problems above, the thesis put forward some suggestions and development countermeasures:the wushu teachers should change their teaching thoughts, regard the thought that "promote the students’ physical health and inherit the traditional wushu" as the basic policy; perform the students-centered and teacher-led teaching principle; reform the teaching content and pay attention to the traditional Chinese boxing teaching; improve the teaching methods; give full play to the students’initiatives and pay attention to the students’ individual difference; ameliorate the examination system and carry out the trinity examination system of practice, sanshou and theory; strengthen the education of the Chinese traditional culture and manifest the characteristic of Wushu; put up the introduction of the content of the acupuncture point and main and collateral channels to promote the acquaintance of the basic health knowledge; implement the teaching content according to the local condition to protrude the local color; build comfortable and delighted teaching environment; develop students’interest in Wushu; expand the teaching channel and broaden the teaching and learning horizon; teach students according to their aptitude, interest, physical condition, and cognitive levels; strengthen the space and atmosphere of the after class activities concerning Wushu; put up the communication of the Wushu match and activities in school and use the interest to promote students learning of Wushu; found Wushu mass organization communication conference in the country and fulfill the Wushu concept.
