Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of inspiratory muscles training on the pulmonary function and Aerobic Capacity of male college orienteers.Methods Twenty male college students major in physical education were randomly assigned to two groups of 10 individuals:IMT group(n=10,completed an 8-week program of IMT, performed 3 days per week,15-20minutes a day during the orienteering training),and control group(n=10,completed the orienteering training).Before and after 8 weeks, VO2max, VE, VEmax, VT, VC2,VE/VO2, VO2/Kg, VO2/HR, MIP, T, VC, FEVi, MVV, PWC170, t and run for 12 minutes were tested.Result (1) VC、FEV1、MVV were changed significantly before and after IMT (P < 0.05), VC and FEV1 in IMT group were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05),control group were no significant change;(2)After the IMT, the IMT group VEmax increased from 146.92 ± 20.53 to 165.75 ± 15.46, an increase 12.82%(P<0.01),1.36% increase in the control group, no significant difference (P>0.05), the IMT group was significantly higher than control group (P <0.05);(3)After IMT, the MT group T and MIP have significant differences (P <0.05), and MIP of IMT group was significantly higher than control group(P <0.01);(4)After the IMT, VO2max of the MT group increased from 4074±296 to 4647±615, improved 14.06%, there was a significant difference (P<0.05), the control group increase 7.45%,was no significant difference, and no significant difference between the two groups; after IMT, the 12 minutes running and PWC170 of IMT group was significantly higher than in the previous experiment (P<0.05), and the IMT group was significantly higher than PWC170 in the control group (P <0.05); after MT, t experimental group before and after the experiment there was significant difference (P<0.05), no significant difference between the experimental group and control group.Conclusion After 8 weeks IMT,inspiratory muscle strength and endurance of PE male college students increased significantly,improve lung function during incremental exercise,and resting lung function improved;In some degree, IMT combined with regular aerobic endurance training could improve aerobic movement performance of PE male college students,and better availability than regular aerobic endurance training.
