The verbal behaviors, the main teaching behaviors in the classroom, account for about eighty percent of the classroom teaching behaviors. We can say as long as research the verbal behaviors among teacher and students we can grasp the essence of the classroom teaching to some extent. Therefore, to evaluate a class, we need to analyze the verbal behaviors among teacher and students in the classroom teaching. In this study, the author takes Changsha Foreign Languages School as an example to research the teacher-students interaction in the classroom teaching in small class, by using improved Flanders Interaction Analysis System(referred i FIAS), classroom observation and communications with the teachers in observed classes, which intends to find out the problems in teacher-students interaction and search for the reasons, and then propose several measures to figure them out. The study not only can enrich the theory of teacher-students interaction, but also can provide examples for its practical application to evaluate the classroom teaching. And at the same time, it can also help teachers reflect on their teaching and then improve and enhance it.The study can be divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction section. It introduces the reasons of research topic selection, the necessity of research and the framework of the thesis. The second part is the literature review chapter, which contains the definitions of the key concepts, the current research status both abroad and at home and the theoretical basis of the study. The third part is the research design section, which mainly includes the objectives, participants, and instruments of the research, the data collection and analysis. The fourth part is the findings and discussions section. It mainly reports and analyzes the research findings from three aspects. They are the current situation of teacher-students interaction, the existing problems and reasons among teacher and students, and the future teaching proposal. The last part is the conclusion chapter. It points out the main findings, significance and limitation of research and provides advice and suggestions for the study in the future. The author selected four English teachers in Grade Eight in CFLS. The type of the class is the listening and speaking class. By using iFIAS, we can get the quantitative data. Combined it with the data from classroom observation and communications, we can reach the conclusion. There are some problems in the verbal structure, teaching atmosphere, teaching style and the way of asking among teacher-students interaction. At the same time, the author provides several useful measures. For example, different kinds of activities are put forward to arouse the enthusiasm of students; teachers should accept the feelings of students and create a harmonious atmosphere in the class; teachers need to inspire students to think through different kinds of asking; and teachers must improve their teaching abilities and the abilities of communicating with students.
