As one of the important ways to master and use English,reading occupies an indispensable position in the whole process of learning.The New National Standard for English Curriculum figures out precisely that the main objective of elementary education stage is to optimize students’ learning style and improve their autonomous learning ability.Specific to reading,the basic task of English reading teaching is to foster students’ autonomous reading ability.Objectively,the situation is not satisfactory in students’ autonomous reading ability in senior high school.The author believes that there are several factors which influence students’ autonomous reading ability,including the traditional teaching method,learners’ lack of reading interest,strategies and lack of self-reflection,self-evaluation in the process of learning.Recently,many schools apply a new instruction method to foster students’ autonomous reading ability,which is named as Guided-learning plan.The Guided-learning Plan is the teaching pattern which takes the learning plan as a carrier,the guidance of teachers as the leading position,the autonomous learning of students as the main body for teachers and students working together to finish the tasks of learning.Researches on the Guided-learning Plan are mainly from the perspective of theoretical aspects consisting of contents,design principles of learning plan etc.But,few researchers are from the view of practical teaching to study on the Guided-learning Plan.The author combines the English reading teaching with the Guided-learning Plan to carry out an empirical study,which fills in the gap of practical researches on the Guide-learning Plan.The two classes are chosen in random among the 14 parallel classes in Pan Shan senior high school.The control class is taught in the traditional way and the experimental class applies the Guided-learning Plan.The research lasts for one semester.The author adopts both qualitative and quantitative methods to collect data and uses the SPSS statistic software to analyze the data in details.Based on the results of questionnaires and interview,we can see that students’ reading attitude and reading strategies are improved after the experiment.What’s more,from the results of the test,it is shown that students’ reading ability is improved obviously after the experiment.Hence,a conclusion can be drawn that the application of the Guided-learning Plan is beneficial to foster students’ autonomous reading ability.However,because of limited level of researcher’ ability,it also has limitations.In future,it is very necessary to explore the new perspectives of the Guided-learning Plan. |
