The complete human communicative activities are including verbal communication and non-verbal communication. Verbal communication refers to express our inner thoughts by language, and it’s a way to tell others. Non-verbal communication means all of the communicative activities except verbal communication. It is not difficult to know that, language communication is the most straightforward and the most convenient way in communication in our daily life, but it is no doubt that as a complementary form of verbal communication, non-verbal communication is an important part in personal communication, it is more contagious than verbal communication, as well as contains more information, including a personal psychological characteristics, real attitude, intention and purpose, etc. Classroom teaching, teacher’s nonverbal behaviors mainly include non-verbal communication, interpersonal distance, auxiliary words and similar language. The management role of teacher’s nonverbal behavior in class is crucial for the teaching in class, and even directly decides the learning efficiency of students in the classroom. However, in the field of education, when we are referring to the class, most of the people focus on the audio language, and they always ignore the other factors with sound language. Moreover the function of teacher’s nonverbal behavior is very important for classroom’s teaching, it mainly performs in building the good relationship between teachers and students; Teacher constraints of classroom discipline; as well as the competence of classroom teaching assignment. Especially for the English class in the primary school, because of the particularity of the professor objects, it needs teachers to pay more patience, and use nonverbal behavior skillfully, in order to transfer the student’s enthusiasm for study, and cultivate their interest and hobbies in learning English.This paper mainly explores three aspects:1. what’s the function of the teacher’s non-verbal behavior in English class of the primary school? 2. In English classes, how do the teachers use non-verbal behavior in current situation? 3. How do the English teachers of the primary school use nonverbal behavior in class to maximize the role of nonverbal behavior? The author chooses English teachers and students of the fifth primary school in my county as the investigation objects, they will complete the questionnaire survey, personal interviews, then observe their class and have records. At last, the author will analyze the information and data. The Results show that:1. In the primary school, the English teacher’s nonverbal behavior have great influence on students, it makes the communication more smoothly between teachers and students, it also can improve students’ initiation in English learning, so they can be involved in the class actively, at the same time, and the students’ attention can be improved. Above all, it can create good classroom atmosphere. Most of the students prefer those English teachers who can use the nonverbal behavior freely. In general, the students, in class of those teachers, are more excellent.2. Generally speaking, English teachers are poor in using nonverbal behavior, and most of them can’t use nonverbal behavior in a reasonable and skillful way.The author hopes that through this research, the paper can provide some guidance for the English teachers of primary schools, and make them understand the nonverbal behavior’s meaning and function. Meanwhile, they are able to make it become your inner quality and use the nonverbal behavior skillfully. Thus they can improve the teaching level.
