Information technology has a huge impact on the implementation of the geography curriculum including curriculum content and teaching way from appearing to now. The new curriculum pays great attention to the geography extracurricular activities ,the standard of the geography course of high school (test) indicates that geography curriculum should think highly of inquiry-based learning,promote autonomic learning and cooperative learning,develop observation,experimental study and special topics and other practical activities.The standard indicates that geography teaching should make information technology to good use,based on it’s teaching characteristics and impact. As an effective way of geography teaching, geography extracurricular activity is the necessary supplement,which can join learning and living ,while putting classroom knowledge into extracurricular activity. But now there are some problems in extracurricular activity, such as unclear target, little operation. Simulate geography activity by information technology has ability to create situation,change mode,stimulate interest and improve freshness and timeliness. Based on the standard and combined the people Education Press’s version, this article analyze the current situation of simulated activity, and put forward some strategy on how to use information technology to simulate geography extracurricular activity, then design a case according to the strategy.The main contents of this article include the following several parts:The first part is an introduction. This part mainly introduces the background foundation and the current situation. By collection relevant books and papers, searching dates, this part make the current achievements, and problems clearly, then determine which aspect to research.The second part is the concept definition. First,this part definite the key conception, that simulated geography extracurricular activity is the virtual activity which is demonstrated or operated in classroom by hardware and software facilities. Then, introduce the practical base of simulated geography extracurricular activity, including characteristics of information technology, advantage of information technology in simulated the geography to value strategy research.The third part is the analysis of current situation. By observation method, questionnaire method, and interviewing method, this part analysis the current situationand find out the problems of simulated geography extracurricular activity to give base to the analysis of strategy.The fourth part is strategy of simulated geography extracurricular activity. The part is the core content of the article. According to the analysis of the current situation, the part puts forward the strategy of simulated geography extracurricular activity, including determine contents main steps and specific strategy.The fifth part is case design of simulated geography extracurricular activity. The part plan to design a typical case about representative geography extracurricular activity. Based on the information environment, according to the strategy,the part design the activity observe solar eclipse by Stellarium, the put it in to practice to show it’s whole process.The sixth part is the conclusion. The part is the conclusion and reflection of process and results of the article. It means the part conclude the strategy and find the problem then discuss the future of the research.
