Since the1950s, circular resistance training (CRT) was introduced into sports training, and then some researchers and scholars studied variable contents of CRT of different training purposes and the research field on CRT was concentrated in its influence on body’s strength, speed-endurance and cardiopulmonary function etc. But few discuss about the training effect on body composition was conducted. It is believed that high strength and short intermittent CRT and continuous aerobic training (CAT) could improve body college students’body composition and CRT is better than CAT to a certain extent. In this study, experiment was conducted to explore their influence on body composition, and then, corresponding comparative analysis was carried out.In the experiment,40college students from Xi’an physical education university were selected. Then they were divided into two groups randomly, each group of20college students. The two groups were recorded as experimental group and control group, respectively. Among them, CRT was developed in experimental group and CAT was launched in control group. In this study, literature method, test method, comparative analysis method and mathematical statistics method were adopted to study the influence of CRT and CAT on college students’body composition. The research results showed that:after12weeks of CRT and CAT, the percentage of body fat (%BF), lean body weight (LBW), fat weight and basal metabolic rate of college students were all changed obviously. After the experiment, the fat weight and%BF of college students in two groups were all decreased. And for female college student, the fat weight and%BF decreased more obviously, while for male college student, this phenomenon was not observed. After the experiment, the fat weight of female college students in control group and experimental group were16.7±5.2and15.2±4.3, the%BF of female college students in two groups were24.7±4.8and22.4±3.8, the fat weight of male college students in two groups were11.1±4.3and11.3±5.9and the%BF of male college students in two groups were20.8±3.3and19.1±3.4. Besides these, after the experiment, there was no significant change of the LBW of college students in control group, while the LBW of college students in experimental group were increased obviously. After the experiment, the LBW of female college students in control group and experimental group were39.1±4.3and40.5±4.2, and the LBW of male college students in control group and experimental group were59.8±9.6and63.4±8.9. At last, after the experiment, the basal metabolic rate of college students in two groups were all increased and the basal metabolic rate of female college students in control group and experimental group were1373.4±70.5and1431.3±78.5, while the basal metabolic rate of male college students in control group and experimental group were1849.7±195.4and1856.3±196.7.Based on the research result, it can be concluded that: 1. Combined long-term CRT or CAT with dietary control could improve the body composition of college students;2. In terms of reducing fat, CRT is better than CAT and for female college students, this effect is more obvious;3. The influence of CRT and CAT on different gender groups with same age has significant difference;4. When planning training methods, it should be based on the specific situation of different groups.
