| Long long ago, the great thinker Einstein mentioned the importance of questioning. He thought that proposing a question is more important than solving a problem. Because questioning need imagination and innovation. But solving a problem is just a kind of skill. From this we can see that the educationalists have already found the significance of raising a question.Today, in contrast, when education has developed to a certain height, teachers stress the importance of letting students learn and think by themselves when they are doing research. But in fact, in English Class, it is very common that the teachers talking all the time especially in the high grade English class. The teachers always ask questions. The students always answer them. There’s no time for them to think by themselves as well as ask some questions that they don’t understand. Nowadays, the researchers are more interested in the quality of teacher questions instead of students questions. In this paper, I did a lot of analysis about the primary school students’ status in raising questions. I conclude the status of student’s self questioning in primary school English classroom through questionnaire combined with my practical work as well as interviews with teachers and classroom observation. The result of the study show that in primary school English classroom, teachers consciously training questioning ability can significantly improve the students’ ability of questioning. Through the class observation we can see that experienced teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ ability in finding problems. This will help them to analyze questions as well as solve questions. The quantity and quality of the questions are much higher than the young teacher’s classroom. This suggests that the teachers’ focus can improve the students’ ability of asking questions in English. Meanwhile, there will be a good result too. Therefore, in the usual English teaching, the teachers just consciously train students’ ability in raising questions, the students’ interest in English will also be improved. |
