Research On Mental Health, Personality Characteirstics And Its Relationship Of Higher Vocational College Freshmen

Compared with ordinary college students, the higher vocational college students havespecific characteristics on their staff composition, enrollment pathways, educational level,value orientation, employment opportunities，social expectations，social identity，etc.，andas a result, they are also different from the same age and ordinary college student populationon psychological performance. This makes the higher vocational college freshmen (HVCF)who are still in education convergence and environmental adaptation period bear variouspsychological burdens, seriously affecting the healthy development of their follow-up. Inview of the above mentioned issues, after having comprehensively understood psychologicalhealth and personality characteristics of HVCF, the research discusses the relationshipbetween psychological health and personality characteristics, also providing someinitial insights for references for the research results.This research takes the freshmen2007-2010of Hebei Managing Cadars College asobjects of study. In forms of SCL-90, EPQA and STI, the research implements its studies onfour aspects such as all students, gender differences, professional differences and school yeardifferences. By statistical analysis, conclusions are made as follows:1.The psychological health level of HVCF is lower than the national norm.Interpersonal sensitivity and obsessive-compulsive symptoms are much more prominent. Thepsychological health status of male HVCF is better than it of female HVCF. Thepsychological health status of science HVCF is better than it of liberal arts HVCF. Science2007, each level of psychological health status of HVCF tends to be good.2. HVCF generally have exocentric personality characteristics, and can better control andadjust their mood, having a majority of sanguineous temperament type. Compared with maleHVCF, female HVCF are more exocentric and flexible, but having a lower level ofexcitation intensity, inhibition of strength, and flexibility in neural process. The liberal artsHVCF is higher than science HVCF in the excitation intensity, Inhibition of strength in neural process. There exist significant differences in personality and temperament type fromdifferent school year HVCF.3. The psychological health level is relevant to personality characteristics. School year,gender, personality characteristics, temperament type, etc., have prediction effect onpsychological health level.
