Followed by the popularization of high education, the quality of the high education has been the focus of attention, so this study takes the view of undergraduate learning engagement. This study chooses students from Grade2, Grade3, and Grade4as objects to investigate their performance both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities, and self-evaluation of their achievement, to explore the current situation of learning quality, discipline and promoting measures of research university undergraduates.In order to enrich the content to know the current participation of research university undergraduate further, and continue to analyze the factors and suggestions, This tudy mainly does investigation from the five dimensions:critical and creative thinking, interaction with teachers, discussion participation and innovation in class, bad learning habits and peer collaboration. The investigation includes4080students by questionnaire of research university undergraduate study experience. Then, the study uses the SPSS16.0to analyze the data.Based on questionnaires, this study selects22students from Grade2to Grade4to do interview to further understand current participation of research university undergraduates, to further analyze the influence factors, and lay foundation for promoting measures.The purpose of this study is through investigating the overall situation of research university undergraduate learning participation and performance in various dimensions, and by analyzing the result of questionnaire and interview to have a good command of research university undergraduate learning participation characteristics and existing problems.The research hypotheses and research question is:1. Through factor analysis to analyze learning participation, ha order to make analysis easier, the study chooses five dimensions, which are discussion participation and innovation in class, peer collaboration, bad learning habits, critical and creative thinking and interaction with teachers, to do the preliminary analysis.2. According to the test of correlation to analyze significant difference of student participation in gender, grade, subject nature, urban and rural background and education level of their parents the five dimensions. And using effect size (η2) to analyze the significant level of this difference.3. Through the analysis of. variance test the goal orientation, which is the influence of degree goal and learning goal to learning participation, and by using effect size (η2) to analyze whether the difference would reach significant level.4. To take student background as a control variable, and treat learning participation as a process variable to do multiple regression analysis to test both learning participation’s effect from students’academic experience’s satisfaction and critical and creative thinking ability, and the influence of professional knowledge and skill development.Through the analysis of data, the following characteristics are found:1.Through empirical research, it could be found that undergraduate participation of Nanjing University is in the middle level, whose score is between2.34to3.54, and scoring is in favor of rare and slightly. This indicates student participation is not quite frequent.2. Based on the test of student background and learning participation, it could be found that student background has a certain effect on learning participation. But because the sample is very large, so through further effect size, the influence is quite small.3. Through regression analysis, goal orientation as an important factor, has useful impact on three aspects of learning achievement, which are academic experience satisfaction, critical and creative thinking and the development of professional ability.4. Through regression analysis, it could be found that academic participation is the most important factor which affects the satisfaction of academic experience. Among it, the regression coefficient of teacher-student interaction is maximum. It is the most important factor which influences the satisfaction of academic experience.5. Learning participation plays a very small role in affecting the progress of critical and creative thinking. Through regression analysis, it could be found that the explanation degree of student background, goal orientation, school belonging and learning participation, and the progress of critical and creative thinking is6.6%. This indicates learning participation is not the main factor which affects students’critical and creative thinking ability.
