In the past few years,compared with the rapid development of countries in the world,handball in China develops slowly, which is mainly caused by the lack of high-levelhandball talents.As a main base of Youth handball team and transportation of personneltraining,cities and provinces are flawed in the selection of talents.Most coaches tend tochoose Youth handball team rely on personal experience.The lack of using scientificmethod leads to some very promising teenagers eliminated in the first selection.Not onlycan this causes a waste of talent, but also restricts the development of our country’shandball team.Therefore,how to select and transport handball sports reserve talents in orderto improve our countries’ handball levels is well worth to research.This study was designed to work out Standard index system and evaluation of theselection of young handball players which is more reasonable, more perfect, more practical.Also it can provide a scientific and systematic selection basis for the coach.The study is based on reviewing, summarizing, analyzing of a large number ofliterature data and test results and interviews with experts and combined with the projectcharacteristics of handball.The study builds a new youth handball athlete selection indexsystem and weight distribution. The new index system and weight collect the ideas ofdomestic handball senior coaches and experts and becomes a better reflection of thecharacteristics and development trend of handball.So it is expected to better guide theselection of young handball players in the future for a period of time.According to the principle of science combined with experience principle in handballplayers selection, the proportion of coaches to assess the last edition increased significantly,the stage (10to13years of age) increased from10%to10%, the comprehensivedevelopment stage (14-16) increased by16%from the original15%, which shows that thecoaches’ evaluation plays an important role in the whole process of material selection andshould not to be ignored. A complete set of material selection system is scientific selectiontogether with experience selection。Based on the test data of the highest level of China’s youth Handball Athletes,weestablish evaluation standards by use of calculate the position percent differences betweenthe mean and the standard.Such method reflects the advanced nature of the HandballAthletes selection and help to the selection of elite handball players.
