Childhood is a critical period of children’s emotion ability development. Emotion understanding is an important part of children’s theory of mind abilities, the role can not be ignored in children’s emotion ability development. Emotion comprehension ability in preschool period will become the cornerstone of many other key ability. It also plays an important role in children’s process of interpersonal communication and social adaptation. Based on previous related researches, researcher selected four middle class in a kindergarten in the city of Tianjin, a total of88children as subjects. In order to investigate the middle-class children’s emotion understanding development condition and the effect of three kinds of training methods which include picture books, dramatic play and mixed intervention, subjects received6weeks of training.First of all, researcher processed the data which derived from emotion understanding tasks’ protest to analyze the developing situation of middle-class children’s emotion understanding, and to compare different gender differences in emotion understanding. After6weeks’ intervention, investigator analyzed post test data to discuss effects of different interventions for preschoolers’ emotion understanding. Findings of this study are:(1) The middle class’s emotion understand stays a low level overall. Facial expression recognition and external emotion understanding ability develop best, mixed emotion and moral emotion understanding ability stay worst.(2) There is not significant difference in emotion comprehension ability by gender.(3) Picture book intervention can significantly improve children’s emotion understanding ability.(4) Dramatic play can improve children’s emotion understanding ability remarkably.(5) Mixed intervention which combines picture book and dramatic play can improve children’s ability of emotion comprehension best.Therefore, researcher put forward the following suggestions:(1) In the daily teaching, the teacher should strengthen the combination of picture books teaching and dramatic play; (2) The construction of the kindergarten should provide hardware and software facilities as much as possible to promote the development of children’s emotion;(3) To strengthen the bonds of kindergarten and home, kindergarten should actively guide parents to find out and respond effectively to the children’s bad mood.
