Study On Ways To Improve Geography Pre-service Teacher’s PCK

The point of the paper is to study the ways to improve geography pre-service teachers’ PCK (pedagogical content knowledge), and adapt to the teaching profession. This paper defined the geography pre-service teachers as the geography teacher professional undergraduate or postgraduate students, who are about to enter the field of geography teacher occupationThis paper is studied through the way of the literature analysis, case analysis and class observation. On the basis of literature analysis of the components of the PCK of a certain topic, which includes knowledge of teaching value, knowledge of content organization, knowledge of the students, knowledge of effects feedback, knowledge of instructional strategies, it comes out that these component is correlative to each other, and correspond to the teaching way of thinking.Through case analysis of the second unit "the atmosphere on the earth" of the high school geography compulsory textbook1of People’s education publishing, and class observation of30geography pre-service teachers, the author find the problems of the their PCK. So the author provides the ways to improve geography pre-service teachers’ PCK: To determine knowledge of teaching value, to structure knowledge of content organization, to classify knowledge of the students, to aim at knowledge of effects feedback, to problem the knowledge of instructional strategies, topicalization, and analysis the teaching way of "the thermodynamic circulation" and "the form of air pressure and wind belt" section as the example. At last, the author thinks that there is not only one way to improve PCK, we should improve PCK through teachers, school and job training.The innovation of this paper lies in using the PCK related research conclusions to apply to the discipline of Geography, providing a new angle of view for the research and development of PCK, to promote the development of middle school geography teachers PCK theory. In addition, the research methods and research results in this paper will provide a reference for the practice of PCK for other geographical researchers.
