In School Geography learning, the content relates to the part of the earth and theuniverse has been the focus and difficulty in geography teaching. Latitude andlongitude network’s establishment, the interpretation of the direction, the meaning ofthe twilight line and sun light map knowledge learning requires students to have astrong spatial imagination in order to achieve good learning results. The solution tothese problems is help students to build the Earth model in heart. Google Earthsoftware with their own direct and real functions, becoming the best choice ofauxiliary earth teaching. Google Earth is an virtual globe software developed byGoogle in June2005, the software arranged satellite photos, aerial photography andGIS in a three-dimensional model of the Earth. It allows users to horizons beyondEarth directly to examine every corner of the Earth. Google Earth transfer largeamount of information, you can freely adjust the map sheet and expressed languagenot passed directly by spatial information, So it can greatly improving theteacher-student interest in the classroom.This paper focuses on the case of Google Earth in geography teachingapplications. It divided into five parts: The first part is the background of the researchincluding problem presentation purpose and significance of research,research methodand some relevant concepts. The second part is the theoretical basis for research, itintroduced the theory of constructivism, situated cognition theory and system ofscientific theories. The third part is about the Google Earth application in teaching athome and abroad. The fourth part is about teaching practice and case studies ingeography with Google Earth. The fifth part is the conclusion about applicationadvantages and application considerations of the Google Earth in geographyteaching.In this paper, writer study the advantages of Google Earth on the basis ofliterature research and practical teaching experience to analyze the feasibility ofGoogle Earth into geography teaching. In addition, it discusses the need to payattention in the Google Earth can be generated in geography teaching role, as well asteaching use. With the implementation of the new curriculum reform, the development ofcomputer technology and GIS technology widely used in various fields of geographicinformation technology related content has been included in the in geographyteaching curriculum program, but as a new teaching aid GIS has not beensynchronous applications. This is because the software, hardware, operations, andtraining and other aspects of professional GIS software into the geography classroompractice cumbersome application. Google Earth as a simple, popular, easy-to-use GISsoftware, overcome these problems, since the launch date by the concern ofgeography education at home and abroad, and has gone through the practice ofgeography education in the United States show that, Google Earth does have asignificant effect in the secondary geography teaching.
