In recent years, China has been implementing the new curriculum reform. While, from the basic idea of the geography curriculum, we can see that guide students to start the process of geography curriculum's learning, arouse their learning interest, and cultivate their creative spirit are the major objectives of it during compulsory education. As fully using of words, blackboard writing, multimedia and other methods, intuitive teaching make students enable to combine knowledge with experience, cultivate their self-learning ability and creative spirit, so that it becomes an important teaching method in high school geography classes. In the form of three-dimensional, Google Earth, putting a large number of satellite photos, aerial pictures and 3D terrain simulation images together, let us browse the entire Earth from a new perspective. This feature allows it to express geographical knowledge visually, thereby in accordance with the cognitive level of students in junior high school, benefits their study of geographic knowledge, and expands geographical thinking. This application is very suitable for junior high school geography class.This paper analyzed the present status of Google Earth in geography intuitive teaching instruction, and introduced relative theoretical bases of using it to assist teaching of high school geography class. According to the investigation of geography teachers and students from all over the Jiaozuo city high schools, it can get an understanding of the current usage of Google Earth over the whole city. And then via the teaching experiment carried out on the basis of survey results and the actual situation during the internship, this paper gave a brief analysis of Google Earth teaching application in practice. In the end, combining with the requirements of curriculum, this article made a brief analysis and evaluation of Google Earth present application in knowledge study. The main purpose of this article is to get a better application of Google Earth in high school geography class teaching, via summarizing the features and advantages of it in assisting high school geography class, and putting forward problems in applying it that need to be noted.
