Study On The Employability Of Agricultural Graduate

China is a big agriculture country, the issues about "agriculture, countryside, and farmer" are always greatly consented by Chinese government. With higher agriculture education backgrounds, graduates of agriculture are very important forces who can deal with above issues. However, the higher demands on higher agriculture talents are challenged by the remarkably low employment rate of agriculture graduates on agriculture. One reason is that their employ abilities are not adequate. Under this circumstance, it is highly necessary for the universities, governments, employers, and graduates themselves to find out how to improve their employ abilities.In order to elucidate the problem, a designed questionnaire was carried out on graduate students from Colleges of Crop Science, College of Animal Science, and College of Bee Science, of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, The questionnaire includes the following aspects:the self-evaluation on employ abilities and personal important abilities; abilities urgently needed improvement, abilities needed intensively nurtured at university, broader knowledge coverage, humanistic quality, and cultivation responsibility of university administration and graduate advisors, and so on.The analysis of questionnaires showed, graduates students investigated had relative normal employ abilities, no so competitive on professional ability, organizational capability, learning ability,adaptability, self management ability, executive ability, humanistic quality, English and computer and so on. So, in order to improve agricultural graduate students’ employ abilities, the following should be done:Firstly, the agricultural graduate students should actively nurture themselves with the passions on the specialty; enhance the specialized skills as well as non-specialized ones.Secondly, the university administration should properly adjust the specialties, increase the proportion of humanities education, enhance practice training, and improve the education on non-specialty abilities.Thirdly, the government should strengthen macro guidance, constitute scientific employ principles, and broaden training opportunities and cooperation on training bases construction.By this way, the employ ability of agricultural graduate students can gradually be improved.
