Secondary school sports organize students according to certain form, using a variety of sports competitions to promote students’active participation, and then it achieves the aim of education must be, formed certain education process, it is not only the exercise of physical fitness, it is also a kind of mind, perseverance, spirit, moral quality, social development, and other aspects of education. The purpose of organizing secondary school sports is not only for physical health, The overall performance of the educational function is to develop excellent qualities for good citizens of bravery, indomitable fighting spirit, team awareness and develop consciously exercise, lifelong exercise habits and an active and healthy life attitude, and promote the development of students’ physical and mental health.Strengthening the construction of secondary school sports is an important part of promoting school sports work, it is the inevitable requirement to promote quality education to implement into practice, is the fundamental way to enhance the physical fitness of students, it is also the educational nature of the return.In this paper, in order for research purposes, using the method of literature, questionnaire, mathematical statistics, interview and so on, visiting a part of middle school of Xinyang to investigate the status of the middle school sports games and the basic cognitive situation of school sports of the teachers and students’, the final conclusions are as follows:1. The middle school games model is very stable and traditional in Xinyang, they are mostly dominated by track and field sports, the form is too single, it is not beneficial to carry out school sports later.2. The middle school ames are held mostly concentrated in the autumn season in Xinyang, the time of the games held in relatively concentrated and relatively short, usually concentrated in one and a half to two days to complete the event.3. The project setting is not scientific and rich enough in Xinyang, most schools are mainly on the basic of some events of traditional track an field with highly competitive, the funny and other types of projects are carried out too seldom, it does not reflect the dominant position of students, nor does it exert the initiative of students.4. Most of the middles in Xinyang are lack of sports funding and the sources is also relatively narrow, its resources of sports venues, equipment and so on is also lackly.5. The scoring evaluation and reward of middle schools in Xinyang is relatively simple, it is not scientific, systematic and improved.6. Opportunities for teachers and parents to participate in school sports is relatively small, some teachers are just involved in the race referee.
