| Through literature research, empirical research, statistics, and by an analytical studyof the ideal resources of the Chinese course—the songs from the primary and secondaryschool music textbooks and the lyrics of the songs widely sung in society, this study hasfound that teachers of Chinese can help improve their students’ language skills by using thelyrics as the vehicle. Under the guidance of the theories like constructivism, effectiveteaching and student-based education, and from a large number of distinctive lyricsadopted in the classroom teaching, this study explores the aesthetic characteristics of thelyrics’ emotional beauty, age beauty, artistic beauty and other linguistic features such aspolysemy, elegance and subtlety, various figures of speech, and phonological harmony.Owing to such features, the lyrics can be used to train the students’ listening ability,cultivate their general reading ability, and help them to understand the inversionphenomenon of classical Chinese. In other words, lyrics can help promote the students’ability to understand speech. Besides, pondering lyrics can improve the students’ oralcommunication skills and drawing on the lyrics can improve their writing skills and subtleexpression. Finally, by revising the wrong sentences from the lyrics, the students can alsodevelop the ability to use standardized expressions. |
