Research On The Practical Strategies Of Social Workers In China Local Environment

While it vigorously pursued the development of social work in China, however, it cannot fully play the professional role to solve social problem, even their professionalism has been seriously doubted. This study is to explore how social workers practice professionally in Chinese local situation on the basis of deep interviews with18Guangdong social workers who had been educated specialized.According to Bourdieu’s theory of social practice, people make the relative choices according to the position they locate in the field and their own habitus; guided by this theory, we analyzed the social workers’ professional practice field and habitus, and explored their different practice strategies further. According to the study, we found that the passive positions of our China social workers in the professional practice field are fixed, and their choices on professional practice strategies are the results of the externalization of their habitus. Based on the strength of social workers’subjective consciousness in a certain professional practice field and the amount of their theory knowledge, we discovered that their practice strategies could be mainly divided into four types:self-re flection, circuitous obedience, passive compromise and experiential leading.Therefore, China social workers’professional practices are influenced by many aspects such as the social system structure and elements of the social workers themselves and so on: firstly, social workers’ practice is the interaction result of social structure and mentality structure; secondly, professional education has a continuous influence on social workers’ practice; thirdly, career goals and personalities play a significant role to social workers’ practice. So all from the research, we could undertake the future development of China social work professional practice in two aspects:the social system on macro and the social work practice process on micro. Particularly, we have following recommends:improve the practical environment of social works, complete the education systems of social work major, promote value-realized social work practice and customer-focused social work practice.
