In order to meet the social demand for high-level talents, our country began to recruit Candidates of Full-Time Professional Master’s Degree(CFPMD) in 2009. The national policy has set 6 to 12 months professional practice during the cultivation process of this kind of postgraduates, which is a significantly different point compared with the academic postgraduates. The cultivation quality is greatly decided by the effect of professional practice, which leads to great attention by academics and cultivation units. The main purpose of the professional practice is to cultivate a CFPMD’s professional ability. Accurately grasp the status and role of professional practice in the process of talent training is conducive to better organize, implement and management of professional practice. Current research gives priority to the discussion on the experience and mode, but it lacks of in-depth research, especially the status of professional practice in the talent cultivation, as well as the reasons of the deep problems underlying the implementation process. Therefore, this study focus on the following questions:(1) The status and function of professional practice in the process of talent training;(2) The existing problems in the process of professional practice;(3) The deep-seated reasons for these problems;(4) The organization and management ways to ensure the quality of professional practice. This study is oriented in a southern China university where 20 CFPMDs was chosen as the interviewer. Through the interviews we know the CFPMD’s feeling and experience in the professional practice process and understand the position and role of the professional practice in the training process. On the basis of status analyzing, the deep reasons of contradictions and problems have been found. The process of the study is as following:First of all, professional practice in the training structure is a core and oriented part, which are mainly reflected in the following aspects: 1) The professional practice needs the support of related knowledge and ability, thus formed a powerful guide for curriculum and teaching, which requires course study closely integrated with professional practice;2) CFPMD’s thesis emphasizes the application and practical problems solving, thus the topic selected from the content of professional practice is encouraged. In a certain extent, the effect of professional practice affects the final quality of dissertation.Secondly, from the perspective of vocational ability the writer clarified the contribution which professional practice made to the CFPMD’s training goal. Through the six months of professional practice the CFPMDs experienced the process of " What should I do", "What can I do" and "What I’m going to do" and also they had a better understanding of profession, their ability of entering the profession is cultivated and their direction of future development is clarified. These to some extent, make up for the lack of professional ability and practical experience. Finally, through the collating of interview data, the problems existed in the professional practice has been clarified. Later, based on the perspective of stakeholders, the writer further analyzed the existing problems, thus indicates the main contradiction in the process of professional practice: the conflict between the development of the students’ personal ability and mentor’s individual interests; the conflict between enterprise in the pursuit of economic utility and the talents training goal of colleges and universities. To guarantee the quality of professional practice, the writer puts forward the corresponding countermeasures and the suggestions in the end.
