In2003,the Ministry of Education had enacted the Ordinary High School MathematicsCurriculum Standard(Experimental version). Since then, middle school mathematicscurriculum reform has entered a new stage. New curriculum further clarifies specific task insolid geometry teaching. That is," to develop students’ ability of space imagination, reasoningability, the ability to use graphic language to communicate and the ability of geometricintuition". We try to follow the law “from the whole to the part, from the concrete to theabstract principles, emphasizing the physical back ground of knowledge, guiding students tomulti-angle metric calculation, multi-level revealing the essence of spatial graphics; payingattention to combination of plausible reasoning and logical reasoning, paying attention toproper formalization development and the ability of space imagination. To the new curriculumstandard as a guide, I have carried on an in-depth investigation about high school students’cognitive characteristics, knowledge foundation and learning disabilities. To cultivatestudents’ interest in learning geometry and to enhance students’ understanding of geometricnature is the key to solid geometry teaching, while drawing and reading teaching can mostcultivate students’ interest in learning and understand the nature of geometry. Drawing, reading is the key to learning solid geometry, is also focus and difficulty in teaching.Drawing is the process of graphics into a visual image planes, ability to read drawings isto translate graphic language represented by plane or space graphics into the ability of signlanguage and written language. In a sense learning process about solid geometry is a processof math knowledge map. Students from learning how to study plane geometry into solidgeometry needs to make the transition, this process begins with drawing and reading teaching. Therefore, researching perception graphics, identify obstacles in the process of learning solidgeometry and helping them overcome barriers will effectively contribute to solid geometrylearning. In this paper, to cultivate the students’ drawing ability and reading geometrygraphics as the focus, through deepening the understanding of geometry of points, lines andsurfaces, as well as the relationship between part and whole, train the students to masterdrawing rules, clarify the descriptive theory and train basic graphics capabilities. Throughquestionnaires, tests and interviews to investigate solid geometry students perceived barriers,to get an important message is" weak drawing ability to read drawings(including no drawing stereo graphics, bad drawing and reading habits,no figures and three-view drawing concepts and so on), lack of spatial ability and spaceconcept, judgment error in relationship between point, line and plane location in space, negative transfer of the junior high school geometry and other problems". This paperproposed appropriate policies about geometry teaching on the basis of investigation. Teachersshould pay attention to teaching basic graphics in solid geometry teaching and develop gooddrawing habits; By carefully observing the surroundings and around objects, it can cultivatestudents’ ability of geometric intuition with the aid of physical model and hands-on operation;Using computer graphics software demo we should increase students’ sense of graphics;Strengthening knowledge transfer can enhance learning ability of solid geometry.
