Investigation On The Martial Arts Culture In The Border Region Of Su Lu Yu Wan Provinces

The border region of Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui Provinces, famous as Four Province Towngate, is an important strategic position where many district changes happened inthe Chinese history, which shows some basic regional culture features. The generation and development of Wushu culture in this juncture is closely related to the natural ecological environment and the humanity history, which is a result that the natural ecological environment wasrebuilt actively and creatively by the local people.In this paper, the martial arts culture including the inheriting martial arts, weaponry anddevelopment course, the famous generals, kungfu masters and their achievements, theinfluencing factors to the generation and development of Wushu Culture in the border regionof Jiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui Provinces is investigated based on the documents,interview and field investigation. The features of Wushu Culture in this area are teased fromthe macroscopic point of view. The diversified development and regional characteristics ofwushu culture in China are highlighted in the specific individual level to show the profoundChinese regional wushu culture. The main works in this paper include:(1)More than70martial arts are handed down in the border region of Jiangsu, Shandong,Henan and Anhui Provinces, which manifests the absorbing, broad mind and wisdom ofwushu culture.(2)Lots of generals and kungfu masters existed in the long history of the border region ofJiangsu, Shandong, Henan and Anhui Provinces. They promoted the generation, developmentand inheritance of regional wushu culture.(3)The spread and development of wushu culture in the border region of Jiangsu,Shandong, Henan and Anhui Provinces is closely related to the specific natural condition, humanistic and social factors:①T he hard-working quality and the emulative spirit sharpened from the floodingprovide a haven for innovative thinking to accelerate the generation and development ofwushu culture;②The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal becomes a north-south transport hub in thisregion and enhances the communication and integration between different wushu cultures,which accelerates the communication, spread and development of local wushu culture;③The Confucianism and Taoism culture generated in this juncture and have a significantimpact on the local people, which become the warriors’ spiritual support；④Frequent wars and rampant bandits sharpen the unflagging spirits of the local peopleand facilitate the spread and development of wushu directly, which riches the local wushuculture greatly.
