Effectiveness is the vitality of ideological and political education of collegestudents, and how to enhance the effectiveness of the ideological and politicaleducation of college students is an important subject in current ideological andpolitical education of China. In essence, effectiveness belongs to the value attribute ofa specific value relationship, in which the value is an attribute marking that objectsare able to meet the needs of subjects. Ideological and political education of collegestudents is of social value and personal value, and the fact that to what extent does itmeet the social and personal needs will directly determine its effectiveness. Societyand individual is a dialectical unity, in which to meet the needs of society is to meetindividual needs better, and meanwhile meeting individual needs well gives rise tobetter meeting of social needs. In the final analysis, social needs belongs to the humanneeds, and to meet the human needs at the highest level–the needs of developmentand to achieve free and full development of human, is not only the lifelong pursuit ofMarx, but also the ultimate goal of ideological and political education.Marx discussed the connotation, features, structures, levels of the needs in detail,and he advocated the needs which is human nature, is the internal driving force ofhuman development and the driving force of social development, and also heemphasized that free and comprehensive development of people is the highest-levelneeds, and highly appreciated the importance of the needs to the human and socialdevelopment.This paper based on Marx’s needs theory discusses the relationship betweenhuman needs and effectiveness of the ideological and political education of collegestudents, advocating that the needs is the humanity foundation of the generation,existence, and development of the ideological and political education of college students. The needs of college students is the intrinsic motivation which makes themaccept the ideological and political education, and it is an important criterion toevaluate the effectiveness of the ideological and political education of college studentswhether students’ needs can be effectively educated, guided and meet.Therefore, to fundamentally enhance the effectiveness of ideological and politicaleducation of college students, more attention should be paid to the problemsof college students’ needs.Currently, some certain good performance has been achieved in our ideologicaland political education of college students. However, owing to the influence of manyfactors, such as, economic globalization and the market economy, there is someimperfection existing in the effectiveness of current ideological and politicaleducation of college students. Traditional ideological and political education oftenexplores how to enhance its effectiveness in terms of society, educators, educationalcontent and educational methods, while the object of education-college studentsthemselves are insufficiently paid attention to. Now that college students are theeducational object, the author believes, the students themselves deserve moreattention, and education philosophy should be changed, insisting on “studentoriented”, to make the ideological and political education deeply ingrained inhumanity. The educators should make their work be based on student’s actual needs,fully understand the needs of students, help students meet their reasonable needs, andguide students to consciously adjust their irrational needs, in order to help themdevelop scientific and reasonable need structure, achieve the leap from low-level tohigh-level need, and promote the overall development of students. On one hand, in theprocess of educating, guiding and satisfying students’ needs, the reality of ideologicaland political education has been strengthened, meaning that the college studentsrealize that the ideological and political education is a need to them, and driven by theneed they will take the initiative to accept the ideological and political education, thusto enhance the effectiveness of ideological and political education; on the other hand,the education,guidance and satisfaction of college students’ needs, are also conduciveto promoting the overall development of college students, so as to realize the ultimate value and target of ideological and political education, and fundamentally improve theeffectiveness of ideological and political education of college students.
