The Research Of Social Integration Barriers Of Black Africans And Its Intervention Of Social Work

With the rapid development of national economy, more and more foreigners swarm into ourcities. And Guangzhou has became the biggest Black Africans gathering area because of thefriendly international relations between China and Africa. However, there are many problems ofBlack Africans in the process of integrating into Guangzhou’s local social life, like havingdifficulties in buying medicine, getting information and obeying the rules. Therefore, the paperused the Social Work Ecological Theory to try to analyses the negative phenomenon. Forexample, different concepts of consumption exist in the process of economic integration.People in Guangzhou always live in rich life, while Africans’ living background aredifficult, hunger, poverty always happen in Africa countries. So black Africans might form themental mold like “it is not easy to earn money, and only by earning money can we live a betterlife”. When these thoughts reflect in real life, the citizen may feel that Africans are reallyparsimonious. So the real conflict lie in the concept of consumption not economy level.Obstacles of community life integration can be concluded as different living style and the lowrate of participation in community activities. Part of local residents feel disgusted of this groupbecause the noise Africans made always woke them up in the middle of the night. Thisphenomenon can be called the contradiction between different way of life, and the shortof activities which are good for promoting community participation can be attribute to theabsence of community work. As for culture integration, difference between people’svalue, behavior and religious belief has became the main factory of causing conflicts. When theconflict came out, neither local resident nor Africans would rethink the root of problem and tryto solve the conflicts under the multi culture background. So it’s not helpful for black Africanshave good integration in Guangzhou. In addition, there are still several problems in socialwelfare service. Lacking access to obtaining information is one of aspect, and the short ofsocial organizations participating in service providing is the other aspect. During ourinvestigation, lots of black Africans reflected that they need more information about language learning, housing and medical care. But the supply of welfare services inGuangzhou mainly relies on government, so demands like housing service are not easy tobe satisfied. Social integration is the interaction between black Africans and local residents, thelanguage barrier causes communication difficulties and this is one of the most urgent problemsthat need to be settled in social integration. In a word, we lacking proper way to solute thoseproblem.Based on the analysis of above problems, the paper try to solve problems and improve thepresent situation by carrying out a project which has the support of social workEcological Theory and practical experience of Dengfeng street in Guangzhou. The specificmethods are as followed. The social worker hold rich group activities, like cultural festival,colorful food festival, and one day hiking to help two groups to communicate with each otherand break through prejudice. Then provide lectures about Chinese learning, life information andhealth care, so that helping black Africans know more about Chinese life and get more socialsupport. By all these efforts improve social integration level.
