’The rise and fall of fortunes hinges on education, and educationdepends on teachers.’ The country’s prosperity and the nation’s progressderive from education. And the key lies in the development of teachers’professional abilities. What’s more, teachers’ professional development is aninevitable trend of the development of the teacher education; it is also thereform objectives and the development orientation. In rural poverty-strickenregions of China, due to the socioeconomic backwardness, it is lack ofeducational resources. Moreover most of teachers have the high technical title,but low education background. Furthermore these teachers never get formaleducation in Normal Colleges. For Chinese students, Chinese is a corecurriculum. The development of teachers’ professional abilities is thefundamental decision to perfect the teaching quality securing systems andenhance the quality of teacher resources cultivation. Therefore, to improve theprofessional abilities of Chinese teachers in junior high school in the rural areasof the poverty-stricken county, to promote the development of their professionalabilities, and thus to change teaching status in the rural areas of thepoverty-stricken county are imminent problems.In this paper, the development of Chinese teachers’ professional abilities inJunior High School in rural areas of a national-level poverty-stricken county inAnhui province is the main research object. After investigation, there still existmany problems in these rural areas. It mainly as follows: lack of goodeducational environment, overemphasis on the formalization of the continuingeducation and training, low quality of students, the lack of interest in learning foe students, lack of the internal motivation for teachers’ self-development andso on. Based on the above issues, I propose the following, namely: theestablishment of a perfect external guarantee mechanism, improve the trainingsystem, change the management ideas, perfect school management system, theteachers’ professional capacity self-development, establish and strengthen theschool system between urban and rural areas and so on.Through the study on the development of Chinese teachers’ professionalabilities in junior high school in rural areas of the poverty-stricken county, themeasures and proposals given make it more scientific and reasonable for theirprofessional development, furthermore promote the development of languageteaching abilities, improve the quality of education in rural areas inpoverty-stricken counties.
