The Applied Study Of Chinese Senior Basketball Referee’s Current Cultivating Model

The referee will always play an essential role in basketball competitions. A responsible referee can make huge contributions to normalize the further development of basketball, cultivate talented players, popularize sport’s spirits and improve the functional basketball skills. This paper will focus on analyzing the current situation of senior basketball referees thoroughly(The senior basketball referee stands for the national referees who are nominated officially by National Basketball Administration Center and were qualified to judge at CBA, WCBA, NBL, National Women’s basketball Second Division and CYBA), and explain the mode of training and examining by using professional interviews, questionnaires, bibliographies, convinced data and researches.According to the former studies, we can see that although, in general, the development pace of the senior basketball referees is positive, there are still short points on the basic structure and training mode. These problems can never be ignored. Without solving them, the further improvement of basketball would never be fast and balanced.So far, those short points include unequal distribution of age, severely unbalanced rate of gender, uneven performances from different provinces, lacking of opportunities in using English, limited time, content and practices of training, also the irrational assessment mechanism.Seeking to solve this situation, I have the following methods. First, pay more attention to increase the number of highly qualified female referees. Second, providing a better information platform for the referees to exchange ideas, share resources, communication with each other, and receive more advanced messages. Third, enhancing the English skills of the referees, especially offering more opportunities for them to practice oral English. Fourth, being equal and fair on selecting referees and making the qualification trails transparently to evoke examinee’s enthusiasm and confidence. Fifth, building a complete information database for senior basketball referees’ personal data, after this, people can always formulate appropriate changes and forecast the basketball’s future well-founded. Last but not the least, professionalizing basketball referee into a specialized career. For now, Chinese basketball referees are amateurs. They should change into semi-professional ones, and then will become complete professional ones finally.I hope that this paper not only can evoke the attentions from the society and the personal experts in this field, but also would recall more people with breadth of vision to help better the future of Chinese basketball.
