Junior high school education is an important part of our country’s basic education, and as the second language learning subject, English has been valued by most educators. According to the compulsory education curriculum standards in 2011( put forward by the experts in Advisory Committee and Working Committee on basic education teaching materials): To follow the moral education first, ability training and content innovation requirements, English teaching in junior high school should also keep up with the times. We should carry out the reform of the classroom teaching strategies, improve teaching methods, increase students’ learning efficiency and skills to achieve a modern, efficient, scientific and practical classroom. As an English educator, o promote the English education and train talents for socialist modernization by seeking the best approach and improve it to serve the classroom teaching to the maximum, is my lifelong pursuit. I am committed to promoting a pedagogy, which is flexible and simple in operation and has a solid theoretical foundation and working experience. It can also make the students achieve their self-promotion and teaching objects. These requirements are not making things difficult for teaching, these are inevitable requirements under the social development and international competition environment. It is the social responsibility of teaching and its value. Through the empirical research during the work period as well as the studies at home and abroad, I found that the five-step teaching method plays a significant role in English teaching activities. It has simple operation, intuitive understanding, fast and efficient characteristics and a variety of ways. It is a gradual learning process which transforms the passivity into the initiative. In this paper, the author concluded that the five-step teaching method is effective in the application of teaching reading in junior high school through the methods of data collection and analysis, theoretical research and discussion, specific empirical research and verification. Author made a detailed description about the use of five-step teaching method in English class. The purpose is to harmonize the relationships between “teaching” and “learning”, to implement the policy of autonomy, cooperation and inquiry in the new curriculum, to stress the dominant position of students, and to provide better teaching strategies to the basic education in accordance with the law of development of human beings. This paper contains four parts:Chapter 1 is introductions. Introduce the background and significance of this article. Chapter 2 is the study of five-step teaching method. It contains the basic theory, research status, and a detailed analysis of the five-step teaching method. Chapter3 is the analysis of experimental. This section is the central part of this paper. It draws conclusions through specific empirical research and takes the five-step teaching method as the guidance to solve the problems. Chapter 4 is the conclusion of dissertation. Reach the enlightenment and the prospect of the author through empirical research. The innovation of the article lies in the fact that the five-step teaching method emphasizes the education service, and it advocates the dominant position of students. It inherited the psychology and educational philosophy thoughts represented by Herbert and Kailov, the life education theory represented by Dewey and Tao Xingzhi. The five-step teaching method can stimulate students’ interests of independent learning and exploration as well as reach the harmonious development of cognitive and physical through the combination of learn and life, passive acceptance and active absorption. The theoretical innovation is reflected in the introduction of new educational thoughts on the premise of traditional five-step teaching method, development students’ innovative skills(including the classroom-based operating system and classroom teaching evaluation system) on the basis of independent study. The ultimate goal of my paper is to enhance the relationships between subjects, to provide better and effective teaching strategies for our basic education in line with the law of human development. In the mean time, to improve teenagers’ English learning abilities in order to meet their development needs and social competing demands.
