Research On The Value Of Confucius Thought "Self-achieving" To College Student Accomplishment

To study Chinese excellent traditional culture, the great sage of Confucius needed to be mentioned. Confucius thoughts, especially "self-achieving" had a huge impact on Chinese ancient society. It also plays an important role in cultivating college students in current society. The thought "self-achieving" has become an important part of Confucius’thought on humanity. It is of great realistic significance in cultivating and improving the self-cultivation for current college students. Currently, problems such as lack of subject consciousness, reverence and faith, tendency towards utilitarianism, self-centered individualism and lack of ideal personality exists quite apparently among college students. These problems seriously affects the cultivation of the college students’ ability of self choice, the search for the meaning of individual existence, the cultivation of the rational consciousness and group consciousness, and the shaping and personality ideals. However, Confucius thought of "self-achieving" is of great significance for solving these problems that exist in the college students today.The thesis explains and discusses Confucius thought of "self-achieving" horizontally and longitudinally. From the horizontal dimension point of view, it discusses self-achieving process from "material achievements in achieving oneself" and " achieving humanity" points of view. "Material achievements in achieving oneself" refers to: in the nurturing of one’s virtues, the combination of humanization of the nature and the naturalization of men. " Achieving humanity" refers to the close and natural combination with one’s good virtues in his individual spirit. From the longitudinal dimension point of view, the thesis elaborates Confucius thought of "self achieving" with logic concerning " the debate over "nature and man", "power and life"," justice and desire", " individuals and groups", "justice and benefits" and " personality ideal". Nurture one’s consciousness of reverence and faith in the debate over "nature and man". Exert the subjective power in the debate over power and life. Cultivate virtues and ethics in debate over justice and desire. Enhance the awareness of group responsibility in debate over individuals and groups. Obtain benefit with justice in debate over justice and benefits. Shape the perfect personality in personality ideal. Therefore, through the study of Confucius thought of self-achieving, this thesis expects to realize the function of encouraging college students to play a positive role in the socialist modernization construction, and becoming well-rounded talents.
