Objective: This study was conducted to understand moral behaviors, moral values and personality of college students, and to explore the effect of moral values and personality on moral behaviors and its relationship. The corresponding education countermeasures were proposed by analyzing further main problems of moral behaviors in college students and its effect factors.Methods: This research combined two methods of quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative research included to revise moral behaviors’ questionnaire and moral values’ questionnaire for college students and carry out investigation. Total of 1285 college students was chosen according to stratified cluster sampling,and these students were investigated by a general data questionnaire,the revised moral values questionnaire,moral behavior questionnaire and chinese college students’ personality scale. In-depth interview method was used to interview the 16 students, 2 counselors, 2 professional teachers, who were sampled as purpose sampling, in qualitative research.Results: 1. The college students’ moral behaviors were generally good. The incidence of behavioral problems from high to low was: love, learning, respect, morality, filial piety, patriotic, altruism. The scores of moral values’ dimension from high to low were: coordination, personal merit, social morality, aggressive, collective, self-regardness. The scores of college students’ personalities’ dimension from high to low was: easy-going, rigorous, candid, altruism, heavy affection, tenacious, active. 2. Unconditioned logistic regression analysis showed that gender, department, grade, whether was the one-child, whether participated in voluntary service, political affiliation, whether had religious beliefs were the important factors of total and each dimension of moral behaviors’ problems. 3. Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that coordination, collective, personal merit, tenacious, active and candid could predict the total and each dimension of moral behaviors positively. Self-regardless and altruism personality could predict the total and each dimension of moral behaviors negatively. The personality was the medium between the moral values and moral behaviors. 4. The main problems of moral behaviors concentrated in love and learning. Loving problems were willing to help acquaintance, helping strangers indecisively, the degree of participating in voluntary service was low, and the activity form was greater than the content and utilitarianism becoming stronger. Learning problems were the classroom behavior anomie,assignments, classes and homework plagiarism and exam assault.Conclusion: 1. Overall level of moral behavior of college students was over average level, but unbalanced development in specific aspects. The main moral behaviors’ problems were love and learning, and the tendency of moral values was positive. The main personality characteristic of college students was easy-going, rigorous and outgoing. 2. Gender, department, grade, whether the one-child, whether participated involuntary service, political affiliation and whether had religious beliefs were the important factors of total and each dimension of moral behaviors’ problems. 3. Moral values and personality could predict moral behaviors. Moral values had indirectly effect on moral behaviors via personality. 4. We should give corresponding attention to different groups of college students,understand the students’ thought in time, strengthen the values education, focus on college students’ mental health, strengthen college students’ personality education enhance the level of love and learning moral behaviors to improve the levels of moral behavior.
