Professional commitment refers to the mental attitude of people and the personal professional investment-pay level. Now,the study on university students’ professional commitment is one of the most popular research in the field of general education. The level of professional commitment directly affects on the students’ learning attitude and job plan. The study relies on the method of questionnaire and interview. There are altogether 392 senior students in special education major in normal colleges who are from five normal colleges in Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, Hubei, and Chongqing, investigated to get the first-hand information on the present situation of professional commitment. Basing on the study, the author specifically researches on the overall level of professional commitment, characteristics and its influencing factors in special education teachers, at the same time, the author carries on the rational thinking and proposes related suggestions to provide the constructive references on improving the professional commitment and professional identity of the special education students in China.The study gets conclusions as follows:Firstly, both the overall of the professional commitment and each dimensions are in the middle or upper-middle level. Among this, normative commitment scored highest of all, ideal commitment dimension scored lowest, emotion and continue commitment dimension score is between them.Second, the professional commitment level of the special education teachers is influenced significantly by gender, grade and the origin of students. In terms of gender, the female professional commitment level of overall and dimensions is significantly higher than the males; the grade special education students professional commitment level is the characteristic of "V", presenting high both ending and low middle. Special education major students’ professional commitment level decreases gradually with the growth of the grade, reaches to the lowest point at the third grade, and rebounds at the fourth grade which closes to the first grade students. In terms of the origin of the students, the professional commitment of the rural and the town students is significantly higher than the students in city.Thus, some relative suggestions:Special education schools should do some efforts on publicity and enrolment working,paying more attention to rural students. The schools should help students set up the correct values on special education profession and strength the students’ vocational ideal faith education. Stimulating students’ learning interest in teaching activities and improving the study self-efficacy is necessary. The school should optimize the special education teaching and course, build a scientific and reasonable curriculum system. Guide the right social speech and evaluate the special education profession objectively. Expand the scope of the employment for special education major and improve the social status and economic status of special education teachers.
