In 2001, China promulgated the new "National English curriculum standards", it made the "people-oriented" as the core idea. The purpose is to pay attention to the individual differences of students when our teaching facing to all students. But it is not difficult to find, during the process of teaching practice, there are significant differences in many aspects because of the big number and different bases in one class, such as cognitive ability, learning attitude, habit and method etc. When there are more than 50 and even nearly 100 students in a class, teachers always take care of the majority of the students while ignoring the students with weak foundation. So, in the face of such a practical situation, how can we make up for the lack of teachers in this area to improve the teaching quality of the class? This is an urgent need for the teachers to abandon the old traditional teaching mode, and carry out the grouping-stratified teaching method. The so-called grouping-stratified teaching method is refers to that the teacher divide students into different levels according to certain basis, such as the level of intelligence of the students, learning achievement and non intelligence factor and other indicators, and then teach grouping-stratified to make the students of each level improve to a certain degree. Grouping-stratified teaching must face to differences of every student objectively, intervene and adjust the students initiatively in a science teaching way, so that every student can progress and develop the maximum of him within his ability. The results of this research proved the following three questions. First, grouping-stratified teaching method can arouse the each level student’s interest and stimulate their motivation in English learning. Second, grouping-stratified teaching method can improve the each level student’s score compared with the traditional instruction. Third, the students take a positive attitude to grouping-stratified teaching method. In order to confirm the effect of grouping-stratified teaching method, the author made an experiment in Dawa Senior High School. The experimental results show that, the stratified teaching method is defer from the traditional fast and slow classes, it can not only meet the teaching principle of “teach students in accordance with their aptitude”, but also can let the students act the teaching activity in the original class, so that students of different levels can communicate with each other and achieve common progress. In the grouping-stratified teaching mode, it can not only satisfy the learning requirements of different foundation students, but also conducive to bring up students’ learning interest and ability, develop good study habits, mobilize the enthusiasm of each student fully, inspire their potential and desire of learning. Grouping-stratified teaching can make temporary backward students to keep abreast of the progress of teaching, make the secondary students to improve on the basis of the original, and make the top students can be more outstanding. In short, the grouping-stratified teaching is a teaching mode for all students; it is a good teaching method for improving the different level students’ English listening, speaking, and reading and writing, it is a teaching exploration to mobilize the enthusiasm and creative of the students fully. In the whole process of grouping-stratified teaching, teachers must grasp the rhythm of teaching, well-designed teaching methods in different stages. In the future teaching practice, grouping-stratified teaching is worthy to deep discuss and study to make it has more possibilities and let all the students could improve overall.
