Vocabulary is the essential to language learning and almost all language learners and researchers agree on the importance of vocabulary. But the students with learning difficulties don’t know how to learn such a large number of words with various meanings and usages. It is necessary to help the students with learning difficulties learn some vocabulary learning strategies.This paper focuses on how to help the students with learning difficulties learn some strategies and learn vocabulary with high efficiency. First,a questionnaire is chosen to get information from the students in Ma’anshan NO.11 Middle School.After that the following study is done:a one-term strategy training is given to the students in experimental class. At the same time 4 students with learning difficulties are chosen as cases to study the effect of the strategy training. A detailed discussion comes at last.According to the result of the research, the study comes to the following conclusions. First,the students with learning difficulties in junior middle schools use some of the English learning strategies mentioned in the questionnaire, but the frequency at which they use these strategies are quite low, especially in Metacognitive Strategy and Cognitive Strategies. Second, explicit training combining with implicit training to the students with learning difficulties can help change the way they learn vocabulary, arouse their interests, bring them the sense of achievement and improve their vocabulary learning. Third,it is important for students with learning difficulties to learn to use appropriate English learning strategies. Teachers should be patient and do more demonstrations to cultivate the ability to learn and uses strategies for the students with learning difficulties step by step.
