With the advent of knowledge economics era, the more rapid a country’s economic grows, the higher levels of social economic development of the state is, the importance of education tends to be more and more prominent. In recent years, rapid development of higher education in the western region accelerates its economic prosperity and it is largely because higher educational schools cultivate a significant of students who are vastly eminent. The state and affect of tertiary education become more and more crucial in the boom of the country and western region aspect. But there is a certain gap between income levels of urban and rural areas households and also between eastern region and western region, thereby the tertiary education turns up the same phenomenon. The paper which is based on human capital theory and family investment theory considers the west area as the object of study and regards the differences between urban and rural households in western part as the content of research. And the study investigated the current situations of the tertiary educational investment between city families and rural areas in western region and analyzes the stress levels of the tertiary educational investment between urban households and rural areas in western region and further digs out its reasons and related recommendation and countermeasures in order to enhance the tertiary educational progress in west part and meanwhile provides consultation and benefit countermeasure suggestions for governments that formulate policies on tertiary educational advancement.The paper contains four parts. Initially, in the introductory part of this thesis, I elucidate, mainly makes a statement about the significance and value of selected topic, research situation, study technique, innovational points and foundational concepts. Mainly purpose of this part is to get a clear study clue, determine research mentality, formulate research framework and define the object of study and then lay the groundwork for further research. Subsequencely, the contents of the first chapter is based on the whole situations of economic development in western region and then analyzes the current situations of the tertiary educational investment between city families and rural areas in western region. The contents of the second chapter mainly elucidate ordinary and utmost investment ability urban families and rural areas in western region and then summarize its levels of the stress from the tertiary education. The contents of third chapter mainly elucidate the diversities of investment ability and stress level between urban households and rural households in western region. Ultimately, the paper further explores the related countermeasure suggestions to narrow its gap.
