International Style of Ballroom Dancing is a sport which presents a series of continuous, complex and high strength actions. The Horizontal Spin which is like a bridge connecting to the Dancing Action plays a very important role in the skills of Latin Dancing. Horizontal Spin can make the entire dance more beautiful and more artistic, and the dance would look much boring without the wonderful Horizontal Spins. How well that the dancer could deal with Spins could be regarded as a very important element to evaluate his or her dancing competitive ability as well as the level of his or her skills of dancing. It is common for most dancers to lose control of their bodies and be off-center so that the whole quality and beauty of the dance would be ruined, which may lead them to a lower rank in a contest. This thesis analyzes the dancers’ Spins in a sport-biomechanical view and combines the biomechanics with Latin Dance to make a conclusion about how the mechanics, the muscle strength of lower limbs, the proprioception and the imbalanced reaction affect the Spins and to analyze the relation between stability and mechanics in Spins so that we could know the correlation coefficient of the stability of Spins and the muscle strength of lower limbs and that of the stability of Spins and the proprioception as well as that of the stability of the unbalanced reaction. This thesis presents the related theoretical reference to the analysis of Spins in the International Style of Ballroom Dancing in order to find a creative and scientific training method of Dancing Spins.Research method includes Measurement, Literature Review Method, Expert Interview Method, Mathematical Statistic and Experimental Method. With help of the Three-Dimensional Measuring Force Platform, we measured the force of the dancers’ sole center when they were dancing. We used 3D Visual Software to measure the dancers’ displacement and we used Grey Relational Analysis Method to measure the correlation coefficient of the stability of Spins and the muscle strength of lower limbs and that of the stability of Spins and the proprioception. Research result:The order of the elements that affect the stability of the Around-Spins of Latin dance is: the ankle joint muscle strength > imbalanced reaction time > ankle proprioception(horizontal) > ankle proprioception(vertical) > knee joint muscle strength. The order of the elements that affect the stability of the Horizontal Spins of Latin dance is: knee joint muscle strength > ankle muscle strength > imbalanced reaction time > ankle proprioception(horizontal) > ankle proprioception(vertical). For the future Latin Dance Spin training program, we should do more training for the muscle of legs and ankles based on the features of different dances. We also should gradually do more training to improve the skills of Spins as well as study and create the new training program for proprioception.
