China’s socialist modernization construction and the reality of the reform and opening up, requires schools to provide multi-level, many specifications of talents. School characteristics construction of exploration and practice to promote students personality development to promote all-round development, is the urgent mission of the school development. However, In order to comprehensively and correctly of school characteristics construction, must delve into the problems and reasons in the process of school characteristics construction, the search for countermeasures, in order to successfully achieve the purpose of the characteristics of running a school.Create must take the student as this school characteristics, the school in education, students are always the leading role of the school, any neglect students’ school development strategy is a wrong, students is the starting point of school work and develops well, only to promote the all-round development of students and the healthy development of personality, school education can reflect its significance and value.This article select YH elementary school as a case, in order to support construction of school characteristics. Before 2013, YH elementary school sets up a running idea. That is, "build green school and breed green civilization". Based on this characteristics construction of educational philosophy, a new idea of running school has been explored. That is, "green environment cultivate pupils"; "green environment teach pupils"; "green environment edify pupils". But in the course of school characteristics construction, there is gradually found many problems:such as concept of school characteristics construction is not perfect; The school characteristic curriculum system and activity project has not been formed; The school only pay attention to the construction of campus environment, characteristics of teachers training, neglected the software construction. YH elementary school in view of the characteristic school construction in the process of the reasons were analyzed, and the mainly adopted case study is given priority to, the method of literature research is complementary, will the school characteristic school-running concept construction, the characteristics of the construction of the curriculum construction, special activities, characteristic of team construction, the characteristic campus environment construction "five ways" carried on the thorough research, analysis and practice, to find:(1) the school educational quality improved significantly; (2) established an ability is strong, the special team of outstanding teachers; (3) students were involved in the project characteristic courses and activities, obvious progress, student awards in various competitions.This article through to the school-running concept construction, the characteristics of curriculum and the activity of project construction and analysis of construction of characteristic campus construction of school characteristics, the following conclusions:(1) The past school characteristics construction lack of top-level design and system construction, lead to the lack of the lasting vitality specialty construction. (2) Educational concept construction led the characteristic courses and activities, and improved the level of teachers and the connotation of the campus environment.
