“well begun is half done.” classroom lead-in plays an important role in the class as the first part. But some English teachers pay little attention to lead-in in class. In order to improve the efficiency of lead-in in English classroom teaching and to stimulate students’ interest in learning English, the thesis based on the theory of meaningful learning theory and combined to the investigation and analysis and theoretical studies together do this research, under this background, the author raised up three researching questions as follows: What the current situation in senior high school English classes? What lead-in ways are usually applied by teachers in senior high school English classes? How to prove the whole class learning efficiency improved by the classroom lead-in ways?Based on the above questions, the author selected the students in Lvshun NO.2 senior high as the experimental subjects and The author refers to the per-test and post-test, classroom observation, audio-recording and questionnaires on lead-in, so as to gain more information about lead-in situation in senior high.Before carrying out the experiment, the author selected 30 students from the contrast class and chose the same number of students from the experimental class to have a test and to participate the experiment. When the experiment was proceeding, the well-designed classroom lead-in ways were applied in the experimental class while the other class didn’t use any lead-in ways. After the experiment was ended, the author made the same students have a test again, then by means of the SPSS software, the author did a compared data analysis of the two classes. Next, during the teaching process, the author did the research with the help of classroom observation, audio-recording and questionnaires.The research found that Multimedia lead-in, setting questions lead-in, using pictures lead-in, free-talk lead-in, revise lead-in and background lead-in were used frequently in the senior English class. Most of the students like the lively English class which the teacher used the well-designed lead-in ways and based on the analysis of experimental data, the well-designed lead-in ways which are used in the experimental class played an important role in raising students English scores and improving students learning efficiency. But during to the limited experimental samples, the research may not designate the situation of the whole senior high students. Moreover, there are also other variable factors, for example, students’ learning interests and qualities and the author’s limited ability and so on. Though the research have deficiencies, the classroom lead-in still has many aspects which are worth being studied.
