"Well begun is half done.’’ Lead-in is the first step of classroomteaching, in the whole classroom teaching, which plays a less important roleand the lead-in time is short. Effective lead-in can improve students’learning interest, inspire students’ thinking, help students build theconnection between old and new knowledge so as to comprehend theteaching contents better. Therefore, classroom lead-in plays a crucial role inEnglish classroom teaching. From the high school English teachingmaterials, we can find that the contents are mainly about the reading texts.The genres of reading materials are various. Therefore, how to make full useof the lead-in in English reading class to enhance the teaching efficiency isworth studying.Due to the importance of English reading class, at the same time, thelead-in is the first step of English reading teaching, it is necessary to knowthe present situation on the lead-in of English reading class in senior highschool. Therefore, the author chose the students and teachers of Grade1andGrade2in Affiliated Middle School to Inner Mongolia Normal Universityas research subjects. The author adopted classroom observation method andquestionnaire method to carry out the investigation. In terms of researchpurpose, the author proposed two questions:(1) what’s the present situationon the lead-in of English reading in senior high school?(2) what are theexisting problems of lead-in in English reading teaching in senior highschool?In view of these questions, the author put forward the correspondingpedagogical suggestions:(1) the teachers should read more books about thelead-in theory and understand the function of lead-in deeply so as toimprove the efficiency of English reading teaching.(2) lead-in of English reading teaching should be "students centered’’. Teachers should analyzestudents’ need when designing the lead-in of English reading teaching, sothat the lead-in of English reading can be effective.(3) the teachers shouldgive full play to the function of lead-in in English reading teaching andimprove students’ participation in activities through arranging the teachingactivities reasonably.(4) the teachers need to improve their own teachingquality and increase their knowledge reserve.
