Women’s education gradually gained the attention of various countries since the 1970s. Women’s education will also be linked to the fundamental rights of citizens, the development of social and progress of mankind civilization in many international conventions. In order to improve the social status of women, the United Nations formulated the "Beijing Declaration" and "Platform for Action" at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995. Meeting proposed to provide the necessary basic education, literacy training, lifelong education and health education for women. We must build a people-centered society and promote sustainable economic development through women’s education. In 2011, the 55th session of Commission on the Status of Women was held. It discussed the right to education and employment for women. In the UN’s appeal, governments will enhance women’s education as part of the national strategy.In India, women are at the bottom of society. Their educational opportunities are significantly less than men’s. Since 1947, India has put women’s education as a key content of government education program. From 1951 onwards, India in each five-year plan has been to focus on women’s education, to develop and implement a number of women’s education policies.This study takes the historical development of women’s education policies in Indian as the object of its research. Combined with the background of policies, the paper divided women’s education policies into several stages. It focuses on the policy content to explore the characteristics and effectiveness of policies. Then the article analyzes the problems of women’s education policies and predicts the future trends of policies. At last, the study will put forward some reflections and suggestions for the development of Chinese women’s education policies.This research has six parts:The first part mainly expounds the research background, purpose, research methods, and significance of this study, the relevant literature review at home and abroad.The second part mainly explains the related concepts of women’s education policy in India and the theoretical foundation of the research.The third part mainly put in order the clue of the women’s education policy in India and the main contents since 1947.The fourth part discusses the characteristics and effectiveness of the women’s education policy in India, including policy objectives, values, environment, resources, execution and evaluation.The fifth part draws up a detailed analysis of the inadequate and the development trends of women’s education policy in India.The sixth part summarizes the enlightenment of the women’s education policy to China and makes suggestions for the development of Chinese women’s education policy.
