Since the 21 st century began, higher education has been under the effect of modernization and the knowledge economy, whose core is modern information technology, has gradually been the dominator of the future economy. Being the major base of knowledge economy, universities are bound to be affected. As the principle part that inflences the quality of higher education and the core competitiveness of universities, the level of university teachers’ professionalization development is crucial to improving the quality of higher education.Following the thinking route, “finding the problem-presenting the problem-analyzing the problem- solving the problem”, this paper, based on the research literature of university teachers’ professionalization and modernization of higher education, reorganizes and analyzes systematically the connotation, significance, purpose, and influencing factors of university teachers’ professionalization and the connotation, features, and goals of the modernization of higher education, laying a solid theoretical foundation for the further study of the relationship between the university teachers’ professionalization development and the modernization of higher education.This paper combines organically the modernization of higher education and university teachers’ professionalization development and analyzes the connection between them as well against the background of the modernization of higher education. It is demonstrated that, on the one hand, university teachers’ professionalization development stimulates the modernization of higher education; on the other hand, the modernization of higher education leads to new requirements on university teachers’ professionalization. Meanwhile, with the questionnaire concerning the current situation of university teachers from several normal universities, this paper also analyzes and discusses the problems in university teachers’ professionalization development.Aiming at solving the problems in university teachers’ professionalization development against the background of modernization of higher education, the paper combines the cooperative innovation mechanism, situation theory and professional learning community theory to propose corresponding solutions to relevant problems at the macro, mezzo and micro levels. Put it specifically, at the macro level, policy and system mechanism is strengthened with the cooperative innovation mechanism; at the middle level, situation theory is applied to create cultivating mode of university teachers with peculiar ecological education situation on campus; at the micro level, the professional competence of universities teachers themselves and teams in cooperation is improved from the perspective of the modernization of higher education and professional learning community.
