Under The New Situation, College Counselors Professionalization Countermeasure Research

Our country has stepped into the stage of comprehensive reform, and there’s striding development in Chinese universities. The ideological and political education in university is now facing new conditions and new problems both at home and abroad, and the ideological and political education of the university students in particular. The entire harmonious development of the university students concerns our country’s future and destiny. If the university student wants to be a national pillar and outstanding socialist builder, universities must construct a team of top-levelled, highly-qualified and professionalized counselors. University counselors lay the solid foundation for the ideological and political education of the university students. Meanwhile, they are the intimate friends and guides who can help the university students to grow healthily. As a result, the university counselors shoulder more responsibilities. Recently, because of the continuing expansion of university enrollment, there are many problems in the construction of university counselor team. For example, there’s no specific plan for the construction of university counselor team. The knowledge and capacity level are not reasonable. Their role in the team is not clear. The mobility of the university counselors is relatively large. These problems seriously affect and block the university counselors’ level of work.After great amount of reading on the professionalizing of counselors, the thesis paper is composed upon the writer’s years of practical working experience as a university counselor. The goal is to investigate and discuss the professionalization of university counselors in the newest trend. The strategic decision can be achieved by counting by the questionnaires, piling up the interviews, carding up the prominent problems, and analyzing the feasibility of professionalizing of university counselors. The thesis paper is divided into five parts.In Introduction, the basis and significance of the choice as well as the research development at home and abroad are exposed; meanwhile the research method is stated.In Chapter One, the connotation and significance of the professionalization of university counselors are illustrated. The necessity of professionalizing is set forth.In Chapter Two, the historical development of the university counselors regulation in our country is revealed in three phases: the budding, the confirming, the developing stages.In Chapter Three, the existing problem on the part of the university counselors and the reason for the problems are mentioned.In Chapter Four, the new idea of solving the previous problems is proposed. The means of doing is expounded.
