With the development of large scale sports events in our country, put forward the outline of the nationwide body-building theory, people increased the awareness of participation in sports and city marathon is China’s fast development of sports events, more and more cities began to organize marathons,schedule settings are more perfect, also marathon also has its own characteristics,now has become a kind of fashion sports, media in the marathon event management to an important role. Media is an important bridge to communicate with the audience the stewards, media give full play to the function, through the spread of event information, make the audience understand more about the marathon, and actively participate in events and event management departments can also through the media to gain an audience on the events of the feedback information.Media not only acts on the event itself, the events of the intangible assets has been further developed, the event’s sponsor can also be widely publicized through the media, to improve the quantity and pay attention to the audience, to expand the visibility of the sponsors, bring more benefits for the sponsor. The media play a function of the application itself in the event, not only to promote the effective operation of event management, but also promoted the event held in city development, media audiences to show the wonderful events, while showing the overall style of the host city, improving the city’s visibility, promote the development of city related industries, and promote the comprehensive development of the city. The Taiyuan International Marathon as an example,analysis of media function in marathon operation stages, explore problems existing in current media, and corresponding suggestions are put forward, so that the media in the event of further play its own function, improve the management level of event management agencies, improve operation quality and influence of the event.With the use of the method of literature, logical analysis, comparative analysis method, case analysis method, expert interview method, mathematicalstatistics, run the marathon event management and media concept definition, and summarizes the characteristics of the marathon event management, the city marathon present status is described, this paper mainly expounds the current media in the City marathon event management function, to Taiyuan International Marathon as an example, research and analysis of media in the event management operation strategy. The results show that:Marathon is developing rapidly in our country, the host city has increased year by year, the media plays an important role in the marathon event management, through the media to play their own functions, each stage and run in the marathon in the smooth development, so as to promote the event management work, more improve the operation efficiency of events, promotion the influence of the degree of competition and the city. This paper focuses on the research of media operation in the Taiyuan International Marathon in management, there still exist deficiencies found, to participate in the report of Taiyuan International Marathon media is limited, to broadcast the game media platform is relatively single, media on the event activities have no persistent reports of events, not all public information report, the media industry group in the preparation is insufficient, in addition to, events management department service guarantee on the media is not in place. The marathon event more city,Taiyuan is one of the existing media, running in the Taiyuan International Marathon in the management of the problems, but also in other more or less most of these City Marathon common problems.Aiming at the problems in running the marathon event management media,puts forward related suggestions: increase the media institutions to report in marathon races and live events media platform; media tracking reports conduct marathon events; the way media report on the marathon more diversified;through a variety of ways to ensure the normal operation of the equipment of live event; event management departments more perfect service guarantee on the media work.
