Since 2009, English Gap-filling Test which appeared as a new type in Fujian NMET, has aroused the attention of various scholars in China. It’s an integrative test for the goal of testing students comprehensive language competence, which can also objectively reflect the foundation English knowledge of students who take that test. Thought it only occupies 10 points in current Fujian NMET, statistics show that the performance of this type left much to be desired. The previous researches usually study this subject from the angle of how to do more effectively in this test. However, few of them tried to focus it on from the perspective of test-takers by using the means of "Think-aloud Protocols". For the sake of all above, the author wonders whether it’s workable to study the test-takers’ process of taking NMET English Gap-filling Test by using "Think-aloud Protocols", hoping that it will be helpful to find out the problems during the process of taking English Gap-filling Tests, making more practicable suggestions for the future effective high school teaching in English Gap-filling Test..By the way of "Think-aloud Protocols", this thesis tends to make some analysis on NMET English Gap-filling Test, centering on the following two problems:firstly, what are the similarities and differences between test-takers of different levels? Secondly, what’s the major factors influencing the results of NMET English Gap-filling Test. According to statistics in the research, the author draws some conclusion:Firstly, though test-takers are different from each other in English competence, they still have both similarities and differences in the test-taking process. That is to say, they all tend to be affected easily by their mother-language thinking pattern, influencing directly or indirectly their performance in NMET English Gap-filling Test; Secondly, it is a lack of discourse awareness and the dependency on mother-language thinking pattern that mainly influence test-takers’ performance in NMET English Gap-filling Test.The thesis tries to enlighten and inspire the future teaching and development of English Gap-filling Test in NMET as well as high school English teaching..
