Teaching of reading plays a decisive role in primary school Chinese teaching system, which has received much concern all the time. Due to the importance of reading, pupils’ low reading level and the inefficiency of reading teaching have long been common concerns of Chinese teachers in primary school. Especially, in recent years, the inefficiency of reading teaching of primary school Chinese raises a number of issues, and there still many problems needs to be solved. The author discovered through survey, students’ passive learning motivation and low efficiency of reading teaching are bound together inextricably. There are plenty of researches about learning motivation and works on the topic of the teaching of reading.In this background, by adsorbing and integrating the previous research results, the thesis mainly discussed two aspects. On the one hand, analyzing the situation of reading teaching in primary school, this paper will show truly the grim situation what we face with, on the base of clarifying the concepts of learning motivation, reading teaching and so forth. On the other hand, analyzing and reconsidering the reasons of learning motivation slide, this paper will put forward some suggestions and advices to improve reading teaching in primary school by stimulating and fostering learning motivation. I’m looking forward that it might become a stepping-stone in the way of Chinese reading teaching reform in primary school.
