This thesis probes the correlation between reading motivation and reading strategies in English of Grade One, Junior High School. The aim of the study is to discuss the whole program of developing reading strategies, which includes developing pattern, developing contents and the implementation. The paper analyzes the relationship between reading motivation and program of developing reading strategies, which is also analyzed in line with students'reading marks. This paper provides some tentative suggestions for reading learning and teaching in Grade One, Junior High School.The research consists of 4 chapters. The first chapter is the foreword. The second chapter is the theoretical study about the junior high school students'reading. It is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the essence of reading, the three patterns of reading and curriculum criterion for junior high school students and its instruction to teaching of reading. The second part elaborates some theory about learning motivation in English reading. The third part introduces some factors affecting reading. The fourth part elaborates some theory about reading strategies. The third chapter is the experiment about the reading motivation and reading strategies for Grade One, Junior High School. It is also divided into two parts. The first introduces the scheme of the experiment. The second part provides the progress of the experiment. The fourth chapter draws and discusses the research conclusion of the experiment. It also summarizes the main conclusion and put forward some suggestions for teaching.The findings prove that the reading motivation in English of students in Grade One, Junior High School is mainly external motivation. The program of developing reading strategies contributes to the enhancement of students'using reading strategics and the reading motivation. It helps students to enhance the ideas of English learning, the ability of independent thinking and self-motivated learning. Therefore, students will become more independent English learners with more reading strategies.
