The paper chooses two representative geography textbooks:they are coming from People’s Education Press and Longteng Press. Based on the situation of Geographic Education and the National Geography Standards,the research compares the image system in the number,type,quality and combinations of images:The Longteng has more images;In the image type,they both have a small few of the remote sensing image.The People’s Education has a large number of schematic graphs.The Longteng has a lot of landscape pictures;They each has advantages,the design of images in the People’s Education is simple and easy to understand.the Longteng images are the intense stereoscopic sense.It processes images flexibility;In the combinations of images,the Longteng uses a lot of that,especially the connection and comparison of images.Through the comparative study on the two geography textbooks.The image system of textbooks would think about the New Curriculum Idea, the Curriculum Standards,students’ age and psychological characteristics.the scientific character,the epochal character,the artistry and the right amount of information,the reasonable allocation and combination of the images.The optimization strategy are infiltrating the Geographical perspective,increasing the image types and the number,adding the remote sensing image and the caricature,controlling the amount of information, making images more stereoscopic with a coordinating color,processing images flexibility and taking full advantages of combinations of images.
