Research On The Operation Mechanism Of American Universities’ Curriculum

The operation mechanism of the university curriculum refers to procedures, methods and principles of development, implementation and evaluation of a course or the entire curriculum system. A set of scientific, reasonable and effective operation mechanism of curriculum can contribute to the orderly operation of the university curriculum system and the improvement of the quality, value and effect of curriculum. Otherwise, the operation of the university curriculum system will be in disorder, course quality can not be guaranteed, course value can not be achieved and it is difficult to play the role of courses. Therefore, in a sense, researches on the operation mechanism of the university curriculum are the key to those of the university curriculum system. Compared with our universities, American ones have formed a relatively mature, normative and effective operation mechanism to ensure the quality, value and effect of the curriculum. The research results of curriculum operation mechanism at American universities can serve as a guide for Chinese universities in the construction and reform of the curriculum system. It can strengthen the science, rationality and effectiveness of curriculum management and decision-making. It can also improve the quality of courses, optimize the course structure and strengthen the suitability of courses. This paper provides a systematic and comprehensive analysis of theoretical basis and practical exploration of the curriculum development mechanism, implementation mechanism and evaluation mechanism, using literature analysis, case analysis, remote interviews and comparative research methods. On the basis of evaluating the effect and insufficiency of curriculum operation mechanism at American universities objectively and fully, taking into consideration the actual situation in China, the paper puts forward some suggestions to improve the future operation mechanism of the Chinese university curriculum.
