Teaching materials play a significant part in teaching activities. The study on the use of textbook as well as compilation and evaluation will greatly contribute to the sustainable development of the new curriculum reform. So, based on the principles of textbook compilation and the theories of textbook evaluation, this study, by way of literature research method, text analysis, text antitheses and induction, draws the following conclusion:1. Form a general evaluation of the three sets of textbook (two sets of English textbooks for high school students in mainland and Longman Activate New Senior Secondary in Hong Kong) 2. Generalize their distinctive features as well as their defects by making a contrastive analysis.3. Put forward some practical advice for textbook compilation. This study is of practical value, hoping to offer reference to those who are using or compiling the textbooks for senior English.
